1) How can I make my computer automatically restart in a mode that works the same as "Safe Command Prompt Only" mode?
a. Create an icon on your desktop by right-clicking on an empty spot and choosing "New" then "Shortcut".
b. At the command line, enter c:\beamhit\beamhit.exe.
c. Click "Next", then enter the name of your software (ie MPRI 330A ).
d. Click "Next", then click "Finish".
e. Right click on your new icon and choose "Properties".
f. Click on the "Program" tab and click "Change Icon".
g. Type c:\beamhit\beamhit.exe and click "OK".
h. Click "Advanced" and choose "MS-DOS Mode" and "Specify a new MS-DOS configuration".
i. Click "Configuration", then select Expanded Memory and Disk Cache, if available.
j. Click "OK".
k. Still on the Program tab, under "Working", enter c:\beamhit and click "OK".
l. When you double-click on this icon, your computer will now start in MS-DOS mode without additional drivers, but will still enjoy the benefits of memory and disk caching.
2) I can start and run the LMTS software normally from Windows 95/98, but when shooting, my target behaves erratically and I see a message indicating the communications have been lost.
a. Check your serial cable connections. Make sure they are firmly seated and the thumb screws are tightened. Power cycle the target and restart your software.
b. If some other software (including built-in Windows 95/98 features) is trying to access your serial port, you will have this problem. Try restarting your computer in MS-DOS mode (See #1 above)
3) I can start the LMTS software from Windows 95/98, but I only see the introduction screen, then the program quits.
a. The program will not start properly unless a target is connected and turned on. If the system cannot detect a properly connected and configured target, it will pause at the introductory screen, and eventually exit.
b. Try running in Full Screen mode (ALT-ENTER)
c. Ensure no other programs are accessing your serial port. d. Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode (see #1 above)
4) I lost my manual. How do I get another one?
Just contact MPRI Customer Support at 1-800-BEAMHIT.
5) I upgraded my old TR-900 target from a MS DOS computer to a Windows computer and now it doesn't work.
Look on the bottom of your target. There should be a white sticker. If the number on the sticker is less the 3.3 or there is no sticker, your target is a previous version target that is not Windows capable. You can however send your target in to be upgraded to a Windows capable version.
6) My Alternate Course C, Machine Gun Target, CB-440, and TR-700 target doesn't turn on.
This is a common problem yet the easiest to fix. On the 9-volt power supply that came with your unit, there is a detachable tip on the end of the cord. On the cord itself at the end you will see the word "TIP" on the removable tip you will see a plus sign (+) or a minus sign (-). The minus sign needs to be aligned with the word "TIP". Reversing this will not allow the power supply to function.
7) My DOS based LMTS 330A program does not print when using Windows 95/98.
a. Confirm you can print to the same printer from Windows 95/98.
b. Open a DOS prompt by selecting "Start", then "Run" then type command and hit enter. A DOS window will open in a window or full screen. Change to your windows directory (normally c:\windows) and type type mouse.txt >prn and hit enter. Your printer should print out approximately 2 pages. If either of these methods do not work, you have a Windows 95/98 or printer configuration problem. Ensure the printer is turned on and connected. Try reinstalling your printer in Windows, or contact your computer vendor. If both a and b work properly, proceed to step c.
c. Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode. This may be accomplished by selecting "Start", then "Shutdown", then "Restart in MD-DOS mode". Alternately, you may hit the "F8" key when you see "Starting Windows 95 (or98)&ldots;" and choosing "Command Prompt Only".
d. When arriving at the DOS prompt, type cd\beamhit and hit enter. Then type beamhit to start the software.
e. Run the program normally and print the target. If the target still does not print, try rebooting and using the "Safe Command Prompt" Run the program normally and print the target.
f. In Windows 95, Click on Start, Settings, Printers. Right-click on your printer, select "Properties" from the popup menu by left clicking it, click on the "Details" tab, then "Spool Settings", and select "Print directly to the Printer" Click "OK" twice to exit.
g. If your printer works in Windows 95/98 and within the DOS window as outlined above, but you still cannot print from the MPRI 330A software, call our technical support line at 1-800-BEAMTEC and ask for Technical Support for the 330A System.
8) My equipment doesn't function. What do I do?
You can call MPRI's technical support line at 1-888-BEAMTEC. Our friendly technical support department will be happy to help you fix your problem.
9) My laser is not pulsing and the laser beam is faint.
This is most likely a battery problem. Ensure that your batteries are inserted correctly and that they are fresh. We highly recommend that you remove your batteries from the laser when you are not actively using the unit. This will prevent the batteries from being drained prematurely, and help you get the most out of them. Batteries are not covered under warranty.
10) My laser pulses multiple times for every one trigger pull.
You may need to adjust the fit of your laser or rod in the barrel of your weapon. On some weapons such as single or bolt-action firearms, you may need to cock the weapon delicately to prevent undesired pulsing of the laser.
